Team Bubbler Forever! Even though it was just four months after I’d left them to move to Long Beach, the wonderful folks at Madison Public Library invited me to join them as part of their presentation at the National Library Association’s annual conference in Philadelphia, PA. I’d promised myself I’d never see snow again, but by that point I’d already gone back to Madison for a 10 day mural project at the Juvenile Detention Center. The inspiration for the mural project came from Pattern Making Through the Lens of the African Diaspora. The Bubbler folks were already running an interactive installation in the middle of the conference space, so they brought me along to teach a mini-version of the lesson for the 250+ librarians attending their presentation. We had short time and materials, but folks all had the chance to create a mini-pattern on grid paper over the course of the session. At the end, we collected as many as we could and presented them all together to create this sweet quilt-work effect. Thanks, everybody!
